Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse VS. Goblin War

Rules:

Each match-up will have its own dedicated thread. Voting is simple. All you have to do is:

1) name your pick
2) tell us why
3) defend your choice to the death if need be. (Poke them with the soft cushions if you have to, just make sure that all the stuffing is in the point.)

You only get one vote but can continue to post on the thread to debate your selection or convince someone to change their mind.

If you want to change your mind please feel free, just make sure your post is clear.

Please keep in mind the newly implemented point system. The rules as stated above consist of two parts; naming and why. If you simply name your choice it will be worth 1 point; if you give the why then it will be worth an additional point. This additional point will be granted at the discretion of Bookspot Central.

Voting for this match will end around 8:00 PM EST on 3/30.

Most Bizarre Match Ever. Cool!

It occurred to me that it might be a good idea to link to the first chapter of Goblin War, for those who haven't read it.

Man, Jim, you have totally been set up! This is an ambush! You're going to have to pull some storyline out of Jig's boots for this one.

I still vote for Goblin War. The whole Goblin set is all about the Underdog, the guy that is usually lunch meat. We're talking quests from the Goblin POV instead of the human.

And for fair coverage here is the first chapter of Go-Go Girls

Hahahaha Goblins beat go-go's hands down!

I say shoot those go-go's in the booty til they go go go!!

I vote for Goblin War
It has great humor and description that tantalizes the imagination.

Much love for Jim C. Hines and all his books! Keep up the great work!!

Thanks, Brian! I've already added several books to my reading list as a result of the tournament, and Go-Go Girls has a great opening line...

You don't make it easy for a girl to choose.

But even after reading the competition's first chapter my heart still lies with the Goblins. Goblin War for the win!!!

How can I not vote for the Goblin who managed to roll more exceptional success than critical failures through out his life time while fighting dragons, fairies/pixies, humans, trolls and even a goddess?

For those of you who are not gamers an exceptional success is like accomplishing something difficult really really well and not necessarily expected. A critical failure is the opposite... you totally and utterly fail and generally at the detriment to yourself.

:)

Nicole

PS I'd like to add that because of this tournament my Books-to-buy list has gotten longer

Jim, a number of your voters have commented on the humor in your books. I hope that some of them try Go-Go Girls because it too is funny. It's a different style of humor then yours but like so may other things there are different types and wea re better for it.

Ok, so...

Go go girls of the apocalypse? Ok, that might win for best title ever.

But I have to vote for the goblins. I mean, really. A goblin hero? Who defeats dragons? It's the ultimate underdog story, and somehow Hines manages to make Jig cute. Really. A GOBLIN!

Goblin War because, unlike a great many series, it is as good, or better, than the previous books.

Still Goblins for the win!

How can go go girls expect to compete with Jig? No contest.

Goblins still try harder. They have to.
