Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern corps

Well, okay not really the Corps, but he’s in the film and cast as Senator Hammond, the father of Hector Hammond who is portrayed by Peter Sarsgaard (cast last month). The Green Lantern cast has been filling in rather nicely with gossip girl Blake Lively set to star opposite (as Carol Ferris) Ryan Reynolds, who is set to bring Hal Jordan to life on the big screen.

So it looks like daddy issues will play a role in the (I’m assuming first) film’s villain (a psychic powered Hammond), with GL’s most famous villain, Sinestro, playing a role much like the true origin, in which he is actually the greatest of the Lanterns (and Jordan’s instructor). Mark…

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier announced

Ubisoft Paris announced this morning that the next step in the Ghost Recon series will be Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Not a lot of other information about the title yet, but obviously it will be all future and pew pew instead of bang bang?

Also it will feature singleplayer and multiplayer modes, and anyone that buys Splinter Cell Conviction on the Xbox 360 later this year will get into the beta. The beta should run in the summer with the game being out by the holiday season to make some bank. Also yes, that is the only image out there on the web so far. As a writer myself, I’m constantly impressed by CSI: Miami’s writers’ ability to come up with interesting crimes perpetrated in interesting ways. What makes the three CSI programs so fun to watch is the regional variation offered by Las Vegas, New York, and Miami. Surprisingly, it’s taken eight years for the Miami group to bring in a story involving space. NASA is only a few hundred miles north of Dade County. Tonight, that drought ends with “Miami, We Have a Problem.”

Leonard is chosen to sub for an injured CalTech professor and visit the CERN supercollider in Switzerland. Allowed to bring a guest, he intends to bring Penny for Valentine’s Day. This predictably upsets Sheldon, but, fortunately, unlike the previous couple of episodes, he doesn’t go completely bonkers.

My favorite aspect of Big Bang has always been its intelligent banter. At times, the banter has taken a backseat to plots that could happen on any sitcom (the characters get drunk or stoned, their apartment is robbed, etc.), but the prospect of visiting CERN is one that could only come up on Big Bang.

24 Season 8 Episode 7, 10:00PM-11:00PM – review

24 is finally gaining some traction with the first genuinely good episode of the season. It should be noted that the writers borrow liberally from previous season and rehash several generic 24 plot twists to get things going again, but they should be forgiven considering how boring things have been. The obsession with Dana Walsh's redneck boyfriend problem is still a needling issue, as too much time is spent on this lame subplot again.

A trailer for the second season of Showtime’s United States of Tara is now out prepping us for the the return of the show that has had a very successful award season for its first season, behind the strength of the Toni Collette performance of the titular character. The actress took home the Emmy, Golden Globe, and was nominated for the SAG. United States of Tara returns on Monday, March 22nd at 10:30PM ET/PT, and below we have an about two-minute preview the season.

I actually just watched an episode of Lost from Season 3 that was Emilie heavy (where some parental revelations were revealed) and I really dug her performance in dark hair mode. We’ve had a ton of pics from Remember Me and guess if you Emilie De Ravin (and I guess Robert Pattinson) you throw as many out there as you can. Just a few days ago we posted a large gallery, and the week before brought another healthy dose of promo images. Now, via MTV, two more images featuring the stars having a right good time with each other, have surfaced online.

Some possible stills to Twilight Eclipse have made their way online. I say possible because they seem to have originated on twitpic, but they do seem rather natural continuations of officially released images from December, featuring Robert Pattinson’s Edward and Kristen Stewart’s Bella. Strangely enough, even that image looked a lot like one we saw in a group of of images from back in October that were in People Magazine (an issue that Twilight took cover honors).

Chuck on NBC gets Doc Brown, I mean Christopher Lloyd

Christopher Lloyd who played Doc Brown the mad scientist on one of my favorite movies, Back to the Future, will be getting a part on NBC’s Chuck. Lloyd will play a therapist who Chuck will confide in when he gets a bit too much of the spy business and starts to crack. Executive producer, Josh Schwartz, said that Back to the Future has been a huge influence on Chuck. Makes sense that you reach out to Lloyd if that is the case. Lloyd will appear in episode 16 of this season which should air sometime in April or May due to the Olympics.

I have thought that this season has really been cooking after a slow first episode or two start. …

Fans of science fiction and fantasy may be most likely to associate the name David Drake with military science fiction; however, the collection Balefires showcases how diverse his writing really is. This single author anthology also serves another purpose, since Drake writes a brief introduction to each of the stories included. These introductions give some insight into the author’s creative process, as well as showing his development as a writer. ‘The Wolfman’ Super Bowl Commercial

I have to admit being slack on The Wolfman coverage, as there has been some sweet posters that I haven’t had the time to note that are even more awesome than the ones we have noted (which are pretty damn cool to begin with). Last week we got a new Avril Lavigne aided teaser for the Tim Burton directed Alice in Wonderland, a 3-D Disney film coming at us on March 5th, and the Super Bowl delivers us a new – awesome – look now! Before both, we’ve had three other trailers to gawk at that reveal the distinct Burton touch in the film. The beginning of the year also brought us a featurette with Johnny Depp briefly talking about the film and his character, the Mad Hatter.

Disney’s Prince of Persia Super Bowl TV Spot

More Super Bowl commercials, this one from Disney’s Prince of Persia, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton in the adaptation of the popular video game. Back in November we got the international trailer which was released the day after the domestic version’s release. We’ve also posted promo images from the film that were released last summer.

Along with Gyllenhaal & Arterton, the cast includes Ben Kingsley (the antagonist of the film, who we get a glimpse of in character poster) and Alfred Molina. It’s a Jerry Bruckheimer production and directed by Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco, Pushing Tin, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).

Well NGamer Mag has the shocking tweet that is still rumor at this point, but needs to be talked about. The tweet reads “We’ve just had some shocking news from an inside source at Nintendo: Sonic will be a playable character in Mario Galaxy 2! Now that I have a family, my favorite type of gaming has become the RTS genre. I can still fondly remember my first interaction with Supreme Commander the original version so I am tracking the sequel. Since the game looks to be shipping early next month I am starting to get excited. This time around we have 10 new screenshots of the game and some information on three units.

The Bomb Bouncer is a shielded unit that can throw back energy that was fired at it to surrounding units. The Kraken is some sort of weird mystical sea creature shaped (hence the name) submarine unit that can take down aircraft, battlebots on land, and other subs. The Pulinsmash just sounds…

Sheryl Crow joins Cougar Town

Quick hitter here – EW is reporting singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow is set for multiple appearances on ABC’s Cougar Town starting in March. While her role is as of yet not revealed, EW does note that Crow will not be playing herself, as she did recently in 30 Rock. Cougar Town debuted last September and a month later was picked up for a full season by the network. In January, it was announced that the show would return for a second season.

Cougar Town stars Courteney Cox, Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Brian Van Holt, Dan Byrd, Ian Gomez, and Josh Hopkins; and airs on Wednesday nights.

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner is Stretch Armstrong

Taylor Lautner seems to be collecting roles in film projects with roots in wack toy lines, as the Twilight star is on board to star in Universal Picture’s Stretch Armstrong, based on the Hasbro toy. I have to admit that when I see the term/name ‘Stretch Armstrong” I think of Stretch Armstrong , he of Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito, and not this silly toy line. This is a Brian Grazer production (no director yet), written by Steve Oedekerk, and is set for a March 2012 release.

Stuff like this scares me when we are talking about a possible Macross/Robotech (LOVE!) film, which with today’s technology, could be the next big thing and could actually be serious. THR drops this…

Serinda Swan in Smallville ‘Warrior’ (9.12) teaser as Zatanna!

Last November we told you that Serinda Swan was coming back to Smallville, and her return is now just a week away! Swan first took on the role of the sexy Zatanna last year and her returns mean that even if last night’s Absolute Justice fell flat or not, there’s still a hell of a lot to look forward to! The episode is titled “Warrior”, and basically features Supes meeting Zatanna at a comic con.

Zatanna is one of my favorite characters in comics actually –love the DC mystical/magic stuff (grab early Shadowpact stuff and get Madame Xanadu now!!) and I believe I read that she is set for her own series this year.

Maybe Madden was getting tired of cursing the cover athletes themselves, so they have teamed up with Doritos for help. Sugar, the drug dealer who lived below the loft before Michael moved in, asks for Michael’s help with his “slow” cousin Dougie. Though Sugar has gone to great lengths to keep Dougie away from his criminal lifestyle, Dougie has fallen in with a heist crew led by the charismatic yet callous Lynch. Michael, Fiona, and Sam must figure out why Lynch’s crew needs Dougie.

I enjoyed seeing Sugar again. Michael was understandably reluctant to help, but Sugar was genuinely protective of his cousin.
