Sonic in Super Mario Galaxy 2 Rumor ?!?!

Well NGamer Mag has the shocking tweet that is still rumor at this point, but needs to be talked about. The tweet reads “We’ve just had some shocking news from an inside source at Nintendo: Sonic will be a playable character in Mario Galaxy 2! Wha?” This would be big news indeed especially after the official Sonic 4 news.
After playing a lot of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games recently though do I see this as something so crazy? Let me talk business though real quick, does having Sonic actually sell more Super Mario Galaxy 2 games? That is the real question, because I think for the Olympic game titles which
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games was developed by Sega, published by Nintendo for Japan and by Sega for North America and I believe Europe. The game also has an International Olympic Committee (IOC) license which probably had something to do with it as well.
I can look at it the other way as well, you may get taken out of the Mario type feeling if you see the hedgehog popping in and out of your game. It is the same way for me as reading a fantasy book and seeing an English catchphrase. What do you think? Will it add, subtract, or not matter if Sonic is in this game?

I don’t think Sonic would integrate well with the mechanics of Super Mario Galaxy 2. It also seems unnecessary as we’re already getting Yoshi.
None of this is to say that they aren’t doing it. I’m just saying they shouldn’t bother.
Hopefully it will be some kind of unlockable thing. Its probably not true at all anyway. I dont see why nintendo would let sonic in a mario game when sega would NEVER let mario in a sonic game. Especialy not sonic 4
Neither Nintendo or Sega have said anything about this yet. That could mean that it is true. Or it could just mean that both Nintendo and Sega are hoping to gain more publicity for their new games by letting poeple spread this story across the internet. It could go either way, but I wouldnt get my hopes up for a sonic appearance yet.
I have a hard time believing it. why have super fast sonic if they already have a super fast Yoshi? it doesn’t make sense to me. but I almost hope sonics not in the game.
Maybe sonic is appearing in some new multiplayer mode or bonus galaxy(accessed via the game menu)
You know how some games have a collection of mini games within the game. Maybe SMG2 has a mini game collection that includes a Mario&Sonic crossover. The minigame would probably involve Mario traveling to sonics galaxy with the star ship.
I definitely think that putting Sonic in SMG 2 will help the sales of it, i remember back when SSBB was about to be released, as ridiculous as it sounds there was a cult like group who sweared to not buy it if Sonic wasn’t in it. I wasn’t even planning on picking up SMG 2 but if Sonic is in it then i will be at Gamestop the night before the release for sure!
Maybe theyll design one very special galaxy for sonic. (aka the Green Hill Galaxy). The gravity bending environment would be cool with sonic.Then again, its not really needed since sonic can run on any wall or ceiling with his speed
One last thing. It would also be pretty cool if sonic and Mario fight. We all know that sonic would normally beat Mario within a second, but in Nintendo tones down sonic’s speed Mario MIGHT have a chance. (When Sonic is controlled by the computer. Unless Sonic’s player is REALLY bad, sonic would still destroy Mario.
For thos of you saying that sonic would not fit into the style of gameplay, if his speed is cut down and he has a homing bounce instead of a homing stomp, itd be ok. And plus, the rumor states that theyve designed a special galaxy for him. And sonic can fit into the old games. Heres a link to a sonic game that takes place in Mario’s world.
