Desperate Housewives – “Lovely” – Review

Review, Television | Katelin | February 24, 2010 at 9:42 am

Oh, what a stripperific week back on Wisteria Lane, full of fabulous returns and a new woman in town who’s gotten everyone all stirred up.

Gaby: Always a plotter and a schemer; man, she cracks me up. I couldn’t believe how blatantly she called out Robin on her tear-jerking, throw-away life story and then asked her to share it with Anna to get her to move to New York. Speaking of Anna, when did her and Danny become so head over heels in love? It was a little nuts and a little bizarre how eagerly Gaby and Carlos pushed Anna to New York; I mean, don’t they care about her graduating and everything? Then again, I guess there is the GED.

Lynette: Oh, man, Parker and his binoculars and wanting to pay Robin for sex? Such a little teenage boy. I’m so glad Lynette decided to apologize to Robin after totally insulting her, because clearly Parker is the one with the issues, not the fact that there’s a stripper across the street. I also love that Lynette told Tom off for his “pay for sex” speech and how he thought he was going to get some all because he bought her a sparkly ring. Pretty much, Lynette is awesome, as always.

Bree: Okay, I love the idea and where Bree was going with the seduction idea and the wonderful music in the background (seriously I love the Nutcracker, so the song was perfect), but I admit, I had to fast forward because it was just so dang awkward. I don’t handle awkward scenes very well, so I definitely skipped through Bree’s strip show (although it did remind me a bit of Jamie Lee Curtis a la True Lies, also known as one of the funniest most awkward scenes in a movie ever). All in all it is sweet to see Bree and Orson attempting to rekindle their romance, and I hope they work it out, because, man, Bree finally deserves some normalcy and consistency in her love life.

Katherine: Welcome back! It’s good to see the resident crazy person back on the block, although she seems pretty cured, but who knows. She also seems like she’s definitely heading down the path of becoming a lesbian, which should be interesting to say the least, especially since she’s now living with an ex-stripper.

Susan: Susan, oh, Susan. I know she meant well bringing Robin home, but of course it was going to cause some chaos in her house; Susan is one of the most jealous women on Wisteria Lane. I did laugh, however, when she tried to crack Mike’s back and instead put him in the hospital.  If only she would have spoken up about how she really felt about Robin, all would have been fine. At least now with Robin living elsewhere she can still help with MJ and not cause so much friction with Susan.

Angie: Where was Angie this week? Clearly Danny was in the picture, since he hopped in a cab, presumably heading to the airport to meet Anna in New York.  So where was Angie to run after him and stop him or ask anyone if they’d seen him? Maybe that’s next week’s episode, then? I don’t know, but I enjoy Angie’s character and bad-assery, so it was sort of sad to not see her this week.

Pretty much another entertaining day in Fairview with some interesting story lines and plot changes; hopefully next week’s will be even bigger!
