Last week we got a new Avril Lavigne aided teaser for the Tim Burton directed Alice in Wonderland, a 3-D Disney film coming at us on March 5th, and the Super Bowl delivers us a new – awesome – look now! Before both, we’ve had three other trailers to gawk at that reveal the distinct Burton touch in the film. The beginning of the year also brought us a featurette with Johnny Depp briefly talking about the film and his character, the Mad Hatter.
As an aside, I recently read that Anne Hathaway (who plays the White Queen) was originally tabbed to play Alice, but decided against the role. The role of Alice eventually went to Mia Wasikowska who is joined by a cast that also includes Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit, Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Crispin Glover (Knave of Hearts), Stephen Fry (Cheshire Cat) and Alan Rickman (Caterpillar).
The film is a return to Wonderland, utilizing the backdrop of the classic Lewis Carroll stories. Earlier today I posted the Super Bowl Spot for Disney’s Prince of Persia, and earlier in the week brought you Scorsese’s Shutter Island, M. Night Shyamalan’s directed The Last Airbender, and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.
