Zhang Ziyi’s set to co-produce an English-speaking film based on a novel by Lisa See (wonder if Brian or any of the BSC Mystery Shock troops have read her detective novels), that Zhang will also star in. Everyone knows and loves Zhang Ziyi from BAFTA, SAG and Golden Globe award nominated roles acting in films that include Memoirs of a Geisha (another adaptation), Rush Hour 2, and of course, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon .

This current entertaining story is set in nineteenth century China when girls had their feet bound and spent the rest of their lives in seclusion, illiterate, and isolated. In one remote county, women developed their own secret code, “nu shu”—meaning “women’s writing”—the only gender-based written language to be found extant in the world. A very imaginative, original story, by a gifted storyteller.
