Idris Alba is set to join Chris Hemsworth, Stellan Skarsgard, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston in Kenneth Branagh’s presentation of Marvel Comic’s Thor to the to the big screen! Elba will play the role of the Asgardian, Heimdall.
Let’s talk comics, Heimdall first appeared Journey Into Mystery#85 *(early ’60’s marvel, baby!)–and is an all around asskicker and defender of the city’s gates. Fans may have seen Elba as Charles Miner in The Office oand ill get to see him in the upcoming Losers (with sweet Zoe-based off of the Vertigo comic). In a smaller role, he was also excellent in Ridley Scott’s American Gangster (w/ Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe).
Thor has a release date of May 20, 2011.

I can’t believe that you wrote that line. You mention these small roles but you don’t mention his signature role playing Stringer Bell for three seasons on The Greatest Show Ever Otherwise Known As The Wire™.
I’m stunned.
That’s it — we can’t be friends any more.
It actually didn’t strike me to mention it. That said, the greatest show ever was and always will be ‘Help!… It’s the Hair Bear Bunch!’
