Black Swan – adds Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel & Barbara Hershey

Been interested in this project since I heard about back in June. July brought us news that the lovely Mila Kunis would be joining Natalie Portman in the Aronofsky (Pi, The Wrestler, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream) project. /Film (good for them!) reveals three more, Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel & Barbara Hershey have been added.

As we’ve noted before Black Swan is a supernatural ballerina (sold!–all new weirdest rejoice) film. Peter Sciretta of /Film reports that Ryder will play “Nina”, who sounds like the head of the class on her last leg. Cassel will play, Yevna, the director of a new production, and Hershey will be Ryder’s mother.

You’d expect nothing less, but these are three more than solid. Hershey is an Emmy winner, has taken hardware home from Cannes, and was nominated for an Academy award for Portrait of a Lady and a Golden Globe for The Last Temptation of Christ (awesome). Cassel starred in Public Enemy Number One, which garnered crazy international acclaim, and starred with Vigo Mortensen and Naomi Watts in Eastern Promises. We don’t even have to talk about Winona, who has been official since Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Heathers–and is probably BSC Hall of Fame material.
