HBO’s ‘A Games of Thrones’ Casting Confirmations
Books, News, Television | Jay Tomio | October 20, 2009 at 1:03 pmOkay, I’m not sure if other sources have confirmed some or all of these yet, but I just got word from HBO that Joseph Mawle is Benjen Stark, Ron Donachie is Ser Rodrik Cassel, Donald Sumpter is Maester Luwin, and Ian McNeice is Ilyrio Mopatis and are officially cast in A Game of Thrones. Also, I know that earlier today I saw WIC twit about a father/twitter confirmation of the casting of Mycrella Baratheon. I can confirm that is indeed the case, and Aimee Richardson will be portraying the eldest daughter of Cersei.

These roles were described to me as ‘guest roles’ and ‘fairly small’. I know that fans of the novels consider no roles to be small, but I think we can agree that the enthusiasm from these confirmations represent the completionist streak in us. I know we will be dissecting every nuance anyway, and can’t wait to do so myself!
Now I need a trailer!
Over the weekend we confirmed that Jason Mamoa would fill the role of Drogo. previously, we noted the castings of The Hound, Cersei Lannister, the Stark Sisters, Theon Greyjoy, Rob Stark, and Jorah Mormont. These announcements were additions to the earlier castings of Sean Bean (Ned Stark), Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) Harry Lloyd (Viserys) Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) Mark Addy (Robert), Peter Dinklage, and Jennifer Ehle as Catelyn Stark.
A Game of Thrones is based off of the novel by George R.R. Martin, the first book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Nice work Jay! Like you said no role is too small for the fans. Hope HBO will continue to fill us in on the remaining “guest roles” (Tommen, Rickon, Hullen, Septa Mordane, etc.)
Thanks a lot , you do great work at WIC!. Let me see if I can get that info (or perhaps it will pop up elsewhere before!)
