Desperate Housewives – “Everybody Ought to Have a Maid” – Review

Review, Television | Katelin | October 27, 2009 at 11:05 am

Another week, another batch of craziness on Wisteria Lane. Between Bree having a moral dilemma, Gaby trying to throw the best birthday party ever, and Susan accidentally shooting off a gun, I’d say it was just your typical day in Fairview.

And how did the ladies hold up this week? Let’s just see, shall we?

Gaby: The episode starts off with Juanita and a friend sledding down the stairs and getting hurt just as her friend’s mom comes to pick her up. From there the mom accuses Gaby of being a neglectful mother. Now, I can see the mom being upset a bit about her daughter being hurt, but going off on Gaby was a wee bit unnecessary. My mom wasn’t looking over me on my play dates all the time, and no mom should! That mom was just a little bit off her rocker; then again, Gaby didn’t do a whole lot, either, to win her case. However, I will give Gaby points for throwing such an elaborate and amazing birthday party, minus the monkey attacking the clown part, ha ha. Then again, my mom was always supervising my birthday parties, so that was sort of off on Gaby and Susan. And I loved Carlos’s reassuring talk to Gaby at the end, sort of a role reversal from last week, and it was just sweet and very them.

Lynette: I couldn’t get over her argument with Roy; man that guy was a prick! But way to go, Lynette, for standing her ground. And, yeah, she is a little bossy every now and then, but it’s who she is, and Tom’s right there with her. Speaking of Tom, he has totally redeemed himself lately. I loved how he went over to talk to Roy and how he’s protecting Lynette by letting her be the boss. So glad he’s gotten past his “mid-life crisis” and everything and is just a good guy husband now.

Bree: Oh, Bree. Her confrontation with the maid in the hotel was just too funny and, oh, so Bree. I did like how the woman finally got Bree to open her eyes. Even if Orson is creepy in a lot of ways, he is still caring and obviously trying to win her back. But, yeah, I don’t want Bree and Orson back together; she and Karl are still kind of a hot couple.

Katherine: From the minute she appeared on scene, she was playing up the crazy. Seriously, in the off season I’m convinced all Dana Delany did was watch Misery and practice her crazy face. I just can’t get over how in love she still is with Mike and how much she is trying to break him up from Susan. And then at the end, you know she’s just too excited that Susan shot her. Oy.

Susan: She was playing up a bit of the crazy against Katherine, too, but not nearly as bad, though. And the fact that she shot Katherine at the end was just too appropriate and too funny. I just don’t get why Julie didn’t stand up for her and say that it was an accident and that they couldn’t even see who it was outside. But I guess that would have been too easy and not nearly as entertaining.

Angie: I get why she played into Katherine’s crazy when she was helping mend her bullet graze-wound but whyyyy!? The more she plays into Katherine’s crazy, the more Katherine will believe she’s right, and the sooner she’ll do something truly insane.

In other Wisteria Lane news, I love that Mrs. McClusky has a sex life, even if Roy is sort of annoying. It’s about time she got some and kept on enjoying her life. Also, Dominic and Julie? Yeah Dominic is definitely crazy, and Danny knows it. I can’t wait for all of this to come to the forefront, because it’s bound to be a good reveal. On top of it all, next week looks even crazier! Katherine turning Susan into the police? And all sorts of ooohs and aaahs…I can barely wait.
