BSC Round-up: Oct. 25, 2009

Another semi-quiet week around here at BSC, due to the other half of our television shows taking their fall hiatus.  A slew of interviews and book reviews made up the difference.  And in case you were too busy hunting up your (or your kid’s) Halloween costume to check in every hour, worry not!  Here is your cheat sheet, my weekly run-down of our original content so you can sleep easy knowing you didn’t miss something awesome.

Interviews

Keith Rawson scored yet another video interview at the Poisoned Pen; this time he had the chance to sit down with Michael Connelly, bestselling author of the Harry Bosch series.

BSC’s re-running of Victor Gischler’s World’s Worst Interview series continues as he takes on Scott Phillips and then Jason Starr

For all the 30 Rock fans out there, BSC sat down with Savanna Samson and talked about her appearance on the show as an adult film version of Tina Fey

Book Reviews

Brian took a look at the new graphic novel from Jamie S. King and Joelle Jones, You Have Killed Me, and came out of reading it convinced a new standard has been set for crime comic art and historical settings in mystery novels

Kurt Busiek reviews Template by Matthew Hughes, summing it up as the kind of book he’d “like to read more of”

Brian also assessed the graphic novel from Garth Ennis, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Mihailio Vukelic, Back to Brooklyn, as a brilliant read ”for the basement noir crazies”

Dragonwomant takes us into the world of Storm Constantine’s Wraeththu with Ghosts of Blood and Innocence

Vincent McCaffrey’s Hound was, for Brian, a slow walk in the woods as opposed to a barn-burner, but fascinating for the bibliophile nonetheless

The Week in Television

Katelin covered all the crazy this week on Wisteria Lane with the latest Desperate Houswives, “The God-Why-Don’t-You-Love-Me Blues”

Damon Cap expands his Disney coverage to include “Roomies,” the latest episode of Suite Life on Deck, and Miley Cyrus’s latest turn as Hannah Montana in “Judge Me Tender”

Mark is back with his Mad Men speculations and reactions on “The Color Blue” (episode 3.10)

CSI:  Miami and Scott Parker say goodbye to Eric this week with his “swan song” episode “Bad Seed”

Gerald So has the latest The Big Bang Theory, which guest starred Wil Wheaton as himself, “The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary”

I thought the episode of Castle that “could change everything” turned out to be aptly named, as “When the Bough Breaks” broke the string of above-average episodes

NCIS hit a sub-par Halloween episode this week with “Code of Conduct,” according to Gerald So, while NCIS: Los Angeles also backslid into more action and less character with “Killshot”

Matt Cibula picks teams as he breaks down “Mash-up,” the latest episode of Glee

Damon said USA’s pilot of White Collar fit his current television tastes exactly

Dollhouse had a good week this week as “Belonging” reveals Sierra’s horrific backstory and finally gives her some resolution

Damon Cap visits The Wizards of Waverly Place again and brings back his thoughts on “Monster Hunter”
