American Idol will once again be hosting the Idol Gives Back event on Wednesday April 21st. So far the Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and United Nations Foundation are confirmed beneficiaries.
“This is our opportunity to reach out and support the people of America and around the world who need our compassion and generosity to improve or even save their lives. America will undoubtedly prove once again what a remarkable and generous nation it is. For American Idol to be able to facilitate this kind of initiative makes me very proud.” said Simon Fuller, Idol creator.
Idol Gives Back has raised over $140 million dollars for charity to date and viewers will be able to make donations during and following the show. At the same time the week’s results will be revealed sending one of the finalists home.
I personally think this is great, when I show that has such influence decides to give back to the world. While I may not be an Idol addict I can sure appreciate what they are doing.
American Idol competition returns for a new set of shows starting in January.
