Robert Downey Jr. in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles?
Books, Movies, News | Jay Tomio | August 15, 2009 at 3:16 amDowney Jr. trying to lock down all fandom in all corners? BloodyDisgusting.com seems to think so, as Universal Pictures moves to nab a big time lead to relaunch film adaptations of bestselling novelist Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles work.

BloodyDisgusting.com is reporting that they have confirmed that Downey is in ‘close’ talks’ to star as Lestat in new films based on Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. In the wake of Twilight everything not happening in Hogwarts seems to be a minor footnote, but Anne Rice was that ‘it’ author that kind of nurtured and cultivated (perhaps now the parents or older sisters) that now fandom. The core series of the The Vampire Chronicles spans 10 books and started with Interview with the Vampire in 1976, starting a career that would see her name circulated on book covers damn near triple digit millions around the world.
Recent actors who have portrayed Lestat include Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire, and Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damne.
