Along with today’s earlier post about Sean Bean being cast as Ned Stark in HBO’s adaptation of the the first installment of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Game of Thrones. We now have our Jon Snow, Viserys Targaryen, and Robert and Joffrey Baratheon.

George R.R. Martin has added Kit Harrington will play Jon Snow, Harry Lloyd is cast as Viserys, Jack Gleeson will play Joffrey, and Mark Addy will play the Demon of the Trident.

It’s honestly very hard for me to not be enthusiastic. I know some would claim being the super fan and nitpicking everything, and they can do that, but I’m just excited to see my favorite book get adapted in what is really (for me) the dream situation: HBO. Loyd was in BBC’S Robin Hood (Will Starlet). I’m unfamiliar with Gleeson, but he’s listed as having an unnamed in Batman Begins (which is good enough for me!). Addy was in A Knight’s Tale (which I have to admit, I love) and if you give Fred Flintstone a warhammer, you might have Robert. I haven’t (knowingly) seen Harrington in anything, and it will be interesting to see how he pulls off the role, as one of my favorite moments in the book occurs early (when he talks with with Dinklage’s character in Wintefell) and really establishes initial perceptions of figures central to the story.
