IDW Collecting Archie Comics
Comic Books, News | Jay Tomio | July 7, 2009 at 11:26 amJust like everybody back in the day! I just posted one of my favortie Archie covers (or Archie related) the other day in a favorite covers thread too! Looks like IDW is set to add yet another classic porperty to their catalog.
IDW has been very busy. Not only are they publishing the sweet new relaunch of Tranformers and G.I. Joe, reprinting Robert Bloch stories, collecting Dave Steven’s Rocketeer, and more – now they are bringing back the icons of icons in American comics.
IDW will be collecting the newstrips and “Best of” collections. Here was the release at publisher Chris Ryall’s blog:
IDW Publishing has announced a partnership with Archie Comics to reprint some of the most iconic Archie stories in deluxe hardcover and trade paperback editions. Under the agreement IDW will reprint in sequence the classic Archie newspaper strip by series creator John Goldwater and original Archie artist Bob Montana. The strip reprints will be published in IDW’s Library of American Comics imprint under the editorship of Eisner-Award winner Dean Mullaney…
I’m not a huge Archie collector, but what a great way to become one! I mentioned an issue cover before, and here it is (which is amusing to my very little mind):

Another favorite ‘Archie related’ cover of mine is from Roly-Poly. The girls look familiar?

You know I really never got into Archie just due to the fact of everything else I used to read and the fact it was not in the Sunday Comics for me. That being said I think I would love it from the little i have read.
