Review – True Blood: Scratches (2.3)

Review, Television | PLMII | June 29, 2009 at 11:23 am

Bill and Sookie start the episode by fighting over the care of Bill’s young vampire charge. Later, Sookie is savagely attacked by a mysterious horned creature, after she demands to walk home. Bill asks for Eric’s help to save her life, and Lafayette is freed by Sookie who confronts Eric. The mysterious Maryann continues to work her magic on the locals, while Sam still struggles with his anger and the thought of running from his problems once again. Jason confronts his doubts about the Fellowship of the Sun’s anti-vampire views and and how he fits into the grand plan. Tara’s attraction to Eggs is growing but soon it becomes strained due to a party they both attend at Maryann’s home. The episode ends with Sookie and Bill preparing to leave for Dallas upon Eric’s request, and Sam taking a late night swim with a strangely scarred new waitress from Merlotte’s.true-blood_season-2-bill-and-sookie

Alan Ball has stirred up the plot once more and anyone watching knows this will be one season to watch. Just when you thought you had it figured out, everything changes once more. I am quite excited to see more of Eric’s character since he is a powerful vampire and our link to the larger vampire political world. This new creature is quite a mystery and from the looks of it very savage. So is it Maryann? Perhaps it was Eggs, and why is Sam so afraid of Maryann? I think we are going to see three plots in three different cities unravel before us. Let us hope that things come back together well in the end. Episode four is on the way and from the preview, it appears things are about to get a bit crazy.

I am very excited about this season, due to the fact it is drawing more on plot than soft vampire porn, which I am sure most viewers are not complaining about, but its not the thing that could carry a good show for long. True Blood is a force to be reckoned with and to be watched with great anticipation. It sure has not disappointed me yet, and I am so tempted to read the books the show is based on just to know some spoilers. I will however wait on that so I can enjoy every bloody moment ahead.
