Review – True Blood: Keep This Party Going (2.2)

jason-stackhouse-fellowship-of-the-sun2True Blood’s second Keep This Party Going, picks up right where the last episode left us hanging, and proceeds to go full throttle forward into full on-plot thickening. Lafayette is still imprisoned by Eric and his associates, and we learn a very powerful vampire sheriff  from Dallas has gone missing. Eric thinks Lafayette may know a “V” dealer who might be responsible. Lafayette has a plan to get out of the mess he is in, and it is one viewers might not expect. Jason Stackhouse is knee-deep in religion at the Christian vampire hating farm, learning how to further hate vampires and convert the masses to his new found religion. He also has a competitor among the flock who thinks he is not who he truly seems to be, and he is bent on besting Jason, and seeing him fail. Tara and Eggs continue their romance, while Maryann continues to haunt Sam’s Bar and life. Sookie tries to do Jessica a good deed but it goes awry and we see l most menacing and dangerous side of Bill. Bill is upset with Sookie and also angry that Eric has demanded to borrow Sookie for her “gift” even when Bill refuses to allow it.

True Blood’s creator seems poised to give one blood sucking and holy cult good time. The timidness of season one appears to have fallen away, and viewers should be ready for one great season to come. I am really excited about the plot twists brewing up and look forward to seeing the cast haunting the city of Dallas very soon. Lafayette is on the verge of being a great character if he lives to tell about it, and Bill is bearing his fangs for more than hunger. I love it when writers take their characters and shake them up a bit; it keeps both readers and viewers on their toes. So often shows keep the characters flat and almost immune to change. They fail to see that during a story a character not only reveals themselves but will also change–this is only a natural story progression. True Blood season one sold us on sex and vampires. Season two appears to be offering something more, a story of characters and their strange lives, and all the intrigue and insanity that goes with them. It’s time to crack open a bottle of True Blood, to quench your starving imagination’s thrust.
