BSC Flashback – Esslemont Night of Knives reviews and interview

Books, News | Jay Tomio | May 10, 2009 at 2:28 am

Just a bit of a relevant flashback. Tor is rereleasing Ian Cameron Esslemont’s Night of Knives next week and while we won’t be doing new reviews (that I know of) we have one at BSC (by Rob) and I did one at the Bodhisattva.

My Night of Knives review is one of my personal favorite reviews, because it was very much a off-the-cuff reaction and I really admired the work, even though it was a fantastic novella stretched into a novel. I also conducted what I think is the finest pre-Crimson Guard interview with Esslemont in terms of getting the real goods – non-BS – via interview with an epic fantasy author. In the near future I will be conducting another interview with Esslemont BSC Beat style (our shorter, 10 question, topic specific format) where I’ll try to hit on some points about Return of the Crimson Guard – so be on the look at for that!

Thought the review might be interesting as Rob and I came from different angles confronting the material!
