The Final Four – BSC Book Tourney!
Books, Website Information | Jay Tomio | March 31, 2009 at 3:54 amReports around the world indicate high school kids skipping class to watch the BSC tourney unfold! All 3 of our brackets – Best Book of 2008, All-Time Tournament, and Dealer’s Choice – have their final four competitors!
All the Windwracked Stars by Elizabeth Bear VS. The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks
Engine’s Child by Holly Phillips VS. Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler
Tomio’s notes: Gischler and Weeks in this tourney have been 2 of the 3 (along with Jim Hines who fell last round to Gischler) best represented by there fanbase this year. They seem to be on a collision course. The Liz Bear squad has not woken up, though they have the pieces to score an upset.
Animal Farm by George Orwell VS. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe VS. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

Tomio’s Notes: Talk about a diverse group. Wolfe and Matheson could go either way. The other side seems to favor Sendak, as sweet new movie trailer trumps getting beat over the head in High school.
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris VS. Kitty and the Silver Bullet by Carrie Vaughn
Armed and Magical by Lisa Shearin VS. The Outlaw Demon Wails by Kim Harrison

Tomio’s notes: Dealer’s Choice this year (our initial year of this tourney) is Urban Fantasy and we have some stalwarts left in the bracket this year!
Thank you to all who have participated, both readers and writers!
